I hate hearing about the “trophy generation” kids who are burnt out and don’t want to play anymore. I blame their parents.

The lessons sports taught us were to compete, try hard, and have fun with your teammates, become friends. Losing, and figuring out how to get better, was part of growing up. And those traits built character. Trust me, I know. I tried out for the good Little League in my area. I was cut. That didn’t stop me from playing ball. I just practiced more and hustled. I made the team the next season.
